Product Description
MT-A2204 basecoat comes in an array of metallic finishes, which offer enhanced exterior durability with the application of a super-durable polyester clearcoat. These advanced systems incorporate proprietary technology to protect and extend the life of these metallics. These MT-A2204 basecoat powders are moisture and stain resistant, chemical and chip resistant durable, and built to last in the most challenging environments.

Pre-treatment
Steel surfaces to be coated must be clean and free from grease. For maximum protection it is essential to pre-treat components prior to the application of MT-A2204 basecoat. Iron Phosphate and Zinc Phosphate of ferrous metals improve corrosion resistance. Aluminium parts require a chromate conversion pre-treatment.
Application
MT-A2204 basecoat powders can be applied by manual or automatic electrostatic spray equipment. Tribo application is not recommended. It is recommended that for consistent application and appearance product be fluidized during application. MT-MW188I must be fully cured otherwise there may be a loss of metallic effect or discoloration of the clear topcoat. MT-MW188I is not stabilized for direct gas fired ovens.
• All coated pieces should be handled with clean lint free gloves.
• Parts should not be stored in an environment with high humidity.
• Clear coat should be applied as soon as possible after metallic application (maximum time between coats is 8 hours)
• Parts should not be passed through a pre-treatment process prior to application of the clear coat Despite the fact that MT-MW188I is a bonded metallic it is not recommended to recycle the powder.
