Tinuvin® 152 by BASF is a high-performance light stabilizer with the following characteristics:
Chemical Nature: It is a non-basic hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS) specifically designed for solvent-based coatings.
Physical Properties:
Physical Form: Solid.
Melting Point: Ranges from 72 to 76 degrees Celsius.
Molecular Weight: 757 g/mol.
Performance Features:
High Durability: Significantly improves the durability of coatings. It minimizes paint degradation that could otherwise lead to cracking and gloss loss in clear coats, as well as chalking in pigmented paints.
Compatibility: Provides superior compatibility in polar, highly crosslinked coating systems where conventional HALS may be incompatible. These coatings include polyester or acrylic urethanes, and highly crosslinked polyester or acrylic melamine systems.
Low Volatility: Exhibits very low volatility, ensuring its stability and long-term effectiveness in the coating formulations.
Application Areas:
Coatings on Plastic Substrates: Especially designed for coatings over plastic substrates such as polycarbonate and ABS substrates. It is widely used in plastic coatings, industrial and decorative paints, varnishes, automotive coatings, and coil coatings.
Dosage: The recommended dosage level of Tinuvin® 152 is 1 - 2%.
