PPH is a typical film-forming aid. When PPH is added to the latex system, it is redistributed between the aqueous and polymeric phases. Its film-forming efficiency is determined by its extremely small distribution coefficient between the two phases, as well as its good plasticizing effect and suitable volatilization rate balance. PPH is a colorless and transparent liquid with a mild odor. For the vast majority of latex and resin, it has low solubility in water, ensuring that it is completely absorbed by latex particles, thereby endowing latex paint with agglomeration properties and color uniformity, while also having excellent storage stability.

When the paint film is fully formed, with the same gloss, leveling, sagging, color development, scrub resistance, and thickening conditions, the dosage is reduced by about 30%, the cost is low, and the comprehensive film-forming efficiency is increased by 1.5-2 times. Most importantly, it has non-toxic and environmentally friendly characteristics.
PPH can be used as an excellent high boiling point organic solvent or modifier, replacing toxic or odorous isophorone, cyclohexanone, DBE, benzyl alcohol, and ethylene glycol phenyl ether series. Due to its non toxicity, good miscibility, moderate volatilization rate, excellent agglomeration and coupling ability, and low surface tension, it is widely used in automotive and automotive repair coatings, electrophoretic coatings, industrial baking paints, and ship, container, and wood coatings.
